The Saturday Journal: God Bless the Mother
To all of the mothers who have mothers celebrating Mother’s Day in heaven, God bless the mother.
To all of our grandmothers and I know now why the word is grand, God bless the mother.
To all of the expectant mothers waiting patiently for God’s gift to arrive, God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers who are called aunts, cousins, sisters, teachers, counselors, house parents, foster parents, God bless the mother.
To all of the single mothers who struggle daily with many different hardships and still her children is the heart of her family, God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers who lost a child while in the womb, God bless the mother.
To all of the grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren, God bless the mother.
To the mother who sits in a lonely sterile office and the doctor’s only remarks are, you have three choices, you can abort the baby, give the baby up for adoption, or keep your child and shower it with love the rest of your life. God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers of teenagers, hang on, those years don’t last forever. God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers who have not experienced a child growing inside their womb, but have opened their heart and their home to adopt a child, God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers whose heart is breaking today because their baby only lived a few short minutes, hours, months, God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers whose only hope for her defiant child’s life to change is through faith and many prayers. God bless the mother.
To all of the mothers who have lost a child too soon--whose hearts have an emptiness that will never be filled again this side of heaven. God bless the mother.
To all the mothers who are sometimes labeled step-mothers, you do much more than step in from time to time. You are seen and you are loved. God bless the mother.
To all the mothers who made the painful choice to sign on the dotted line giving your baby away because you couldn’t adequately care for your child. With faith--trusting your child would have a better life. God bless the mother.
To all of the new mothers, “For this child I have prayed”. You are special. God bless the mother.
To all of our mothers with young children, spend time with your child, never miss an opportunity to tell them you love them--you're proud of them. And don’t just tell them, show them. Not through what money can buy, but through love. Laugh with them, celebrate with them, cry with them, and most importantly, pray for them.
And to all mothers with older children--repeat above
God bless the mother.
